First-graders in Ms. Mohler’s class at Kate Shepard Elementary were hard at work in the construction zone last week to celebrate a successful first quarter. Students built houses with 3D shapes, completed building inspections to identify shapes, and used bulldozers to plow through addition and subtraction. They also put their grammar and reading skills to the test and worked together to construct complete sentences. They have built a strong foundation and are ready to start second quarter Monday! #PerseverancePropelsProgress

Mary G. Montgomery's Academy of Agribusiness will open its annual Fall Plant Sale on Monday! It’ll still be a little early for fall flowers, and inventory will be limited on veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, collards, mustard, and cabbage. But they'll have plenty of pansies, mixed pots, perennials, dianthus, and snapdragons to add some color and life to your fall gardens. They'll be open from 8-10:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit the MGM Academy of Agribusiness Facebook page for updates! #LearningLeading #PerseverancePropelsProgress

Wow! The MCPSS Class of 2026 received $250 million in college scholarships TODAY! Through a new initiative, the students applied to colleges and were “matched” with admissions offers and scholarship dollars. Today, 1,198 seniors received 12,082 admissions offers from in-state colleges alone. We expect these numbers to go way up, as the seniors will find out on Oct. 20 which offers they’ve received from out-of-state schools. MCPSS counselors worked with Alabama Possible and our students to make this happen. MCPSS leads the state of Alabama in scholarships awarded.
