Students in different disciplines often use what they've learned to collaborate on projects in MCPSS career tech programs. Bryant Career Technical Center science students researched bluebird habitats and nesting box specifications. Students in its manufacturing class built bluebird houses and used a CNC plasma cutter to create guards to keep squirrels out. This hands-on collaboration is a perfect example of Project-Based Learning coming to life — combining technical skills, scientific research, and teamwork for a real-world environmental project! #LearningLeading #PerseverancePropelsProgress

Students at Pathway 6-12 were encouraged and inspired this week by Timothy Alexander, a former high school football star who was paralyzed in a car accident and is now training for the Paralympics as a swimmer. Alexander overcame many other challenges in his own childhood, including juvenile detention and a house fire that left his family homeless, tp earn a master's degree and become an Emmy Award-winning motivational speaker. He challenged the students to chase their dreams and avoid the temptations and difficulties that stand in the way. "Will you choose to be bitter," he asked, "or will you choose to be better?" #LearningLeading #PerseverancePropelsProgress
