Kendall has been named to the All-County teams for both indoor and outdoor track and field each of her four years in high school. She has won three AHSAA state championships, has been named a 2025 Adidas All-American, and holds the school record in the long jump and triple jump. Congratulations to the students and teams who excelled in the recent fifth-grade Math Competition! Council Traditional School won Division 3 and was the Overall Winner, while O'Rourke Elementary won Division 2 and took second place overall and Tanner Williams Elementary won Division 1. Semmes Elementary took first place in Ciphering, Florence Howard was honored as the Best New School team. Collins-Rhodes was named Most Improved and Forest Hill, Wilmer, Dodge and Orchard shared the Most School Spirit award. Fifteen individual students earned perfect scores on the written exam. Today, on National School Communicators Day, let’s recognize the members of our Office of Communication, the mcpssTV crew, and those who communicate on behalf of each of our 90 schools, for the important work they do every day to support students, employees, families, and our community. We are also proud to share that the MCPSS Office of Communication recently received statewide recognition from the Alabama School Public Relations Association, earning seven Excellence in Communication Awards for projects completed throughout the year as well as two Excellence in Strategic Communication Awards for the annual Teacher of the Year Luncheon and the MCPSS-U professional development program for employees.

Day 1 of the Be Pro Be Proud Alabama tour was a huge success for MCPSS Career Academies! Middle school students from Scarborough, Causey, and Burns stepped inside the interactive mobile workshop to explore hands-on career opportunities. From operating simulators to learning about high-demand skilled professions, students were engaged, curious, and excited about their futures.

Afterward, students toured Bryant Career Technical Center, getting a firsthand look at the many programs and pathways available right here in our community.
