AL.com named Williamson's Corien Coleman and Alma Bryant's Madi-Marie Grayson as the Coastal Alabama boys and girls Players of the Year, respectively, and Alma Bryant coach BJ Evans as the Coastal Alabama girls basketball Coach of the Year. Coleman was also a first-team 5A all-state selection by the ASWA, Grayson was named second-team 7A all-state, and Evans was the ASWA's 7A Girls Basketball Coach of the Year. Three Alma Bryant student-athletes signed college scholarships this week. Arianna Hayes and Vivian Covert became the first wrestlers from the school to sign at the collegiate level with Huntingdon College. They have each recorded over 50 career victories, competed at the state level, earned All-County honors, and claimed county championships. Archers at 21 MCPSS schools will be competing in the Alabama State Championship in Montgomery on Thursday and Friday. Alma Bryant High School is the top-ranked team in Alabama, with a score of 3,430 in a state-qualifying tournament. Baker is fifth among high schools and Mary G. Montgomery is 10th. Causey is the second-highest ranked middle school in the state, Clark-Shaw is third and Grand Bay, Semmes Middle and Alba are in the top 10. In the elementary school division, Castlen, Anna Booth, Collier, and Dawes are all ranked in the top 10. Also qualifying for state either as a team or individually were Barton Academy, Dixon, Dodge, Hankins, O'Rourke, Phillips, Semmes Elementary, Theodore and Wilmer.
