Mobile County Public Schools students have a new app this year to report threats, mental health emergencies or other urgent issues anonymously – MCPSS Speak Up.

Students can easily access the app during school hours through a bookmark link on their district-issued laptops, and they can download it onto their phones for use outside of school. All reports go directly to that school’s safety team, without the student having to give his or her name. They just click the bookmark link or download the app, create a passcode, select their school and submit a report.

“We know that students are more likely to report threats or other emergencies if they’re able to do so anonymously. MCPSS Speak Up gives them an easy way to do that,” said Andy Gatewood, MCPSS Director of Safety and Security. “It’s so much more effective to alert your school’s safety team, who can do something about a threat, instead of sharing it over social media. MCPSS Speak Up is another tool that will help keep our schools the safest places to be between 8 and 3.”
