Mobile County Public Schools Superintendent Chresal D. Threadgill and the Mobile County Board of School Commissioners recently recognized award-winning MCPSS educators by placing their names on The Giving Tree at Central Office. The honorees are:

• Nicole Baranov, the Alabama Science Teachers Association's Elementary School Teacher of the Year

• Nicole Bolton, winner of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching

• Krissy Brown, MCPSS Elementary Teacher of the Year

• Roseann Byrd, MCPSS High School Teacher of the Year

• David Dai, winner of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching

• Maegan Gayle, State Finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching

• Lauren Henson, the Alabama School Social Worker of the Year

• Marcee Hinds, selected as the state's Outstanding Teacher of American History by the Alabama Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution

• Kimberly Jones, the Alabama Counseling Association's Elementary School Counselor of the Year

• Karla McInnis, State Finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching

• Shawn Schlumpf, selected as the state's Outstanding Earth Science Teacher by the National Association of Geoscience Teachers

• Mary Travis, winner of the Milken Educator Award

• Justine Wilson, MCPSS Middle School Teacher of the Year
