Congratulations to our Denton Admirals’ track team for a great performance at the MCPSS Middle School Championship meet. Aubrey Newton was the MCPSS Middle School Girls’ Champion in the 1600m coming in at 6:23 and the 800m with a time of 2:50. Marshall Thigpen finished with a time of 56.79 to finish as the MCPSS Middle School Boys’ 400m Champion. Both boys (48.94 time) and girls (57.42 time) 4x100m teams finished with the bronze in 3rd place. Congratulation to all of our Admirals on a great season! #AdmiralStrong

🎵Last week, two of our band students represented our school at the District VII Honor Band.🎵

The Student Showcase at Denton was a coordinated effort between Peer Helpers, History Club, Athletics, and our Technology department to display the academic, social, and athletic crossover that many of our scholars participate and excel in. We welcomed over a 100 visiting community stakeholders and partners to our school to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of our students.

Mursheed Alabi was recognized yesterday at the Sunrise Rotary Club's awards ceremony for the region's Outstanding Eighth Graders. Congratulations Mursheed!
Congratulations to Jason Parker and Ewan Johnson for qualifying for the State Tech Fair! They will represent our school at the University of Montevallo later this month. Congratulations!
Denton ACES had a fun and educational field trip to the Southern Museum of Flight on Thursday. Students learned about the history of flight, including Alabama's role, and tried out the museum's flight simulator. Several students showed that they may have a future in aviation! Today they attended Engineering Day at the University of Alabama, where college students and researchers showed their current work. We toured several labs, learned about emerging technology, and even got to meet Big Al!

Today, the Advanced Band traveled to Murphy High School for our MCPSS District Band Assessment. For the first time since 2008, our band was given Superior Ratings on all three rubrics. These are the highest possible scores the band can achieve. Congratulations to our superior band program on their hard work!
On Saturday, hundreds of students from across Baldwin, Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, Washington, and Wilcox counties braved the cold and auditioned for a chance to be in the ABA District 7 Honor Band and the Alabama All-State Band. For the first time in school history, we have some of our Admiral Band members who were selected. These students auditioned with Scales, 2 prepared pieces, and Sight Reading in a very competitive process. Congrats to our Admiral Band members who will be representing our school!
