Can you DIG it?? 🦴🔍
Mrs. Smolinski’s Earth Science students turned into paleontologists for the day thanks to a Burke Box from the Burke Museum! From exploring 540 million years of Earth’s history to learning how scientists “read” the fossil record, our Warriors dove deep into the past right from their classroom.
The best part? Finding real microfossils! Students sifted through sediment, examined fossil casts, and used tools from the Burke Museum’s DIG program to uncover evidence of ancient life. 🌍✨

✨ This morning, Davidson’s teachers came together to explore the domino effect in teaching — how small, intentional shifts can lead to big results in student success.
They reflected on their own learning styles and how those approaches shape their classrooms every day.
When students truly understand the learning intentions, they don’t just complete the work — they thrive.

This past week has been FUN with a capital MARDI GRAS in the Culinary classes at Davidson! 💜💛💚
In Culinary 2, students explored food cultures across North America by creating mac and cheese inspired by five different traditions — perfect for celebrating Mardi Gras in Mobile!
• Canadian “Poutine” Mac & Cheese
• Italian Mac & Cheese
• Cajun Mac & Cheese
• Southern Mac & Cheese
• Mexican Mac & Cheese
They compared flavors, ingredients, and cultural influences while bringing global twists to a classic comfort dish.
In Culinary 1, students have been studying dairy science — so they made homemade cheese and built beautiful cheese boards to showcase their work. Hands-on learning at its best!
Our Hospitality & Tourism students studied the economic impact of Mardi Gras in Mobile on the hospitality and tourism industries. They created detailed Mystic Society posters highlighting parade themes, guest experience, food traditions, music, and community impact.
To wrap up the week, we celebrated the way Mobile does it best — with beads, MoonPies, and handmade Tootsie Roll roses in traditional Mardi Gras colors. 💜💛💚
So proud of our students for combining culture, culinary skills, creativity, and community learning all in one festive week!
