A special shoutout to Master Sergeant Christian and Chief Bryant, who generously provided the steaks for the event — your support made this luncheon extra special! 🍽 Our amazing Café Staff went above and beyond to assist with serving, ensuring everything ran smoothly and our guests felt right at home. 🍰 Our Hospitality & Tourism program sweetened the celebration by preparing a variety of delicious desserts that everyone enjoyed! 🏆 We also took time to present our annual faculty awards, honoring some of the exceptional individuals who make Alma Bryant the best in Mobile County: 🏅 Coach Miller received the prestigious R.L. Watson Award for outstanding leadership and service. 🏅 Coach Donald was honored with the Marta Peak Award, recognizing his dedication to students and excellence in education. 🏅 Dr. Arrington was awarded the Doug Estle Award for his vision, professionalism, and years of leadership. 🎉 We celebrated the career of Dr. Arrington, our assistant principal, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service to Alma Bryant. Congratulations to Mrs. Odom, science teacher at Alma Bryant High School, for receiving a $1,000 grant from Alabama Power! This generous award will go toward purchasing general classroom supplies and science materials to support engaging STEM activities in her biology and marine science classes. Mrs. Odom, who regularly attends professional development workshops to bring new and exciting ideas into her classroom, shared that this grant allows her to implement hands-on learning experiences she has dreamed about for years. “Without this grant, I would have had to wait much longer to afford the materials for these activities,” she said. Thanks to Alabama Power’s support, students will benefit from more interactive, hands-on labs that help science come alive—making learning more meaningful, memorable, and exciting for all.

Over the past three years, Mrs. Baker’s classes have partnered with 4-H Alabama Water Watch, The Nature Conservancy, and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab to complete the Bayou La Batre Watershed Project. Students have been trained in both Bacteriological and Chemistry Monitoring through Alabama Water Watch and participated in four annual field trips funded by the Bayou La Batre Stormwater Grant from the EPA. Each year, Honors Marine Science and Cambridge Environmental Management students collected and analyzed environmental data and presented their findings. For their stewardship efforts, students helped plant native species on conservation land and are currently preparing for a marsh plant mitigation project. This Thursday, students will gather plants from the Bayou La Batre city docks, nurture them in the school greenhouse, and replant them on protected land this fall. We’re also proud to recognize Mrs. Baker as the 4-H Alabama Water Watch Educator of the Year!
