English As A Second Language
The mission of the MCPSS EL Program is to facilitate language acquisition by providing quality instruction, resources, and equitable educational opportunities to equip and empower college and career ready graduates.
Did you know that the English as a Second Language and Migrant Programs of the Mobile County Public School System service over 2000 students, representing over 60 different languages?
Our talented Teachers, Paraprofessionals, and Support Staff are also composed of individuals from many different cultures and languages. Our Instructional Staff support EL students in the classroom through direct Intervention Services, as well as Professional Development and Coaching for teachers. Additionally, our Bilingual Support Staff provides Interpretive Services and Community Professional Development for EL & Migrant families. As a program, we strive to support the whole child by providing academic support, family support, and advocacy.
