Design A Black History Mardi Float
Celebrate Black History Month with a little Mardi Gras fun and revelry! Students are challenged to create a Mardi Gras float using a shoebox and various craft materials. Each float should be inspired by and will honor an influential Black figure who has made a positive impact on history, culture, science, education, civil rights, or the arts. Students should choose the African American history maker that will be the focus of their float.
Students must decorate their floats using traditional Mardi Gras colors: purple, green, and gold. Floats should include symbols, decorations, or images that represent the accomplishments and contributions of the chosen figure.
Students should be prepared to share who they chose and explain how their float represents that person’s achievements and legacy.
