Dear 8th Grade Parents and Students,

We are excited to announce the Rites of Passage Crossing Over Ceremony for the 8th grade class of Calloway-Smith Middle School. This special event will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 8:30 AM to honor our students as they transition from middle school to high school.

Participation Requirements:

To ensure this ceremony reflects the accomplishments of our students, the following criteria must be met:

· Behavior: Students must exhibit positive behavior during the 3rd and 4th quarters. Any student with consistent behavior issues will forfeit the opportunity to participate.

· Academic Achievement: Students must pass all classes to participate. Failure to pass any class will result in the student being ineligible for the ceremony and required to attend summer school to meet the 8th grade requirements before moving on to 9th grade.

Dress Code for the Ceremony:

We want our students to look their best for this memorable occasion. Please adhere to the following attire guidelines:

· Girls: Black dress (no strapless or spaghetti strap dresses), flat black shoes, white pearl necklace, and earrings.

· Boys: Black slacks, white button-down shirt, tie or bow tie, and black dress shoes.

We believe this ceremony will be a meaningful and memorable event for all students and their families. Please encourage your student to maintain good behavior and academic effort as we approach the end of the school year. Students who do not meet the behavior or academic requirements will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony. We encourage you to maintain regular communication with your child's teachers to stay informed about their progress. Please address any concerns early, as waiting until the end of the school year may be too late to make necessary improvements.
