For the previous two years, our Barton Explorers World Language program has been leading the way toward earning the Global and/or AL Seal of Biliteracy!
In Alabama, students may earn their seal for their diploma their Senior year by achieving qualifying scores on the ACT for English and through a world language proficiency exam.
Barton students are among the youngest learners in the state already taking a World Language exam to gauge proficiency levels. While MANY #BartonExplorers are benchmarking for proficiency at their grade level, we even have several students who are earning the required proficiency in World Language to meet the World Language criteria to earn their seal!
A special congratulations to the following students who excelled and reached the World Language benchmark requirement toward ultimately earning their seal of biliteracy as 8th grade students last school year!
Cecilia Rodriguez - Spanish
Bonnie Tweddell - Spanish
*earned WL score requirement for state and global seal
Elizabeth Jones - French
Soon, we will also recognize last year’s 9th graders (currently in 10th) who reached World Language criteria toward earning seal of biliteracy status.
Our Barton World Language program is leading the way! Congrats, Explorers!
