Get Smart, Too!

Posted by Comm. Dept. in Information Technology  |  Comments (11)

The Information Technology department is holding the first Mobile County Public Schools Get SMART, Too:  SMART Board Users Conference.  The conference will be held, Tuesday, July 20th at Clark-Shaw Magnet School.  Beginning at 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. sessions will cover many SMART skills, such as SMART Response Clickers, Early Childhood Resources for the SMART Board, Teaching Reading Street the SMART Way, SMART Review Games, and much more!  The conference will also feature two keynote speakers, Brady Phillips, Manager of the Educational Consultant Team in North America for SMART Technologies, and Mike Kemp, Director of Consulting Services for Information Transport Solutions in Educational Services Division. According to David Akridge, Executive Manager of Information Technology for the Mobile County Public Schools, this is a great year for technology, "This year has seen tremendous excitement in our schools as 21st Century Classrooms are coming to life all over the county.  We understand that teachers must have more than just access to technology.  Teachers must have the proper training, not just to use the equipment, but to integrate it into the lessons and transform the classroom in ways we could only imagine years ago."

Today SMART Boards are the stepping stones to moving forward in classroom technology, and with more than three hundred teachers registered for the conference this will be a successful move.

This sounds like it was a wonderful workshop.  I missed it due to teaching summer school too.  Please offer this again during the school year!

THis sounds so wonderful!  I only wish it would've been held next week so I could've attended, as I am teaching summer school at the moment.  Perhaps MCPSS can hold this workshop again so we all can take advantage of this.
