MCPSS STUDENT TAKES TOP HONORS IN READING AND WRITING PROGRAM
Three other students finish in top 10
Rupa Palanki a fifth grader from Council Traditional School is the recipient of a $10,000 savings bond. She won first place in the ninth annual HOAR Construction/GMAC Bowl Reading and Writing Program Awards Program. The ceremony was held at the Mobile Civic Center on Tuesday, December 1, 2009.
Students were required to read a book and submit a written book report in 250 words or less. A panel of judges selected 10 finalists who competed for first place. Three other Mobile County Public School students placed in the top ten and won savings bonds:
Zicky Hart - Dauphin Island Elementary - $1,500
Jerrica Oglesby - St. Elmo - $1,000
Ava Andrea Hill - Castlen - $500
The 10 winners have been invited to attend the events taking place during GMAC Bowl Week, including the GMAC Bowl Game. January 6, 2010 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

Way to go Rupa! It's good to know that students are still going in the right path. I was a student at Council and I'm now at Phillips Prep. Keep doing what you do best and stay on the path. Congrats, hope to see you at Phillips next year.
