Employees are welcome to visit the Human Resources department regarding the review of his/her employee file. Files can be viewed on an Appointment-Only basis. Appointments need to be made 24 hours prior to visit. Files are available for viewing Monday through Friday, and the last appointment time is 3:30 p.m. An employee can set up an appointment by calling 221-4500.
An applicant can not apply for an emergency certification. Mobile County hires applicants on an emergency certification in critical need areas such as math and science only. If you qualify for an emergency certification, a HR representative will submit the appropriate paperwork to the Alabama State Department of Education. Once you have submitted an application, a HR representative will review you application packet to determine if you meet the requirements established by the state department.
If you are enrolled in an Alabama accredited college/university seeking certification in a critical needs area (math, science, special education), and there are no certified applicants available, you may be eligible for hire. An HR representative will review your file to determine if you meet all qualifications.
Yes, you must have a valid Alabama certification. You will need to call the Alabama State Dept. at 334-242-9977. A representative from the state dept. will send you the documentation you need to apply for an Alabama Certificate.
No, you will not be able to be employed until the state reviews your documentation and issues your Alabama certification. If your certificate is in a critical needs area (math, science) Mobile County can apply for an emergency certificate that will be valid for one year only.
You must hold at least a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university. An advisor in the department of education from an Alabama college/university will be able to develop a course of study that will lead to an alternative master's in the field you are interested in teaching. The advisor will need an unofficial copy of your transcript for him/her to review in order to develop an accurate plan for you to follow.
