Hello! My name is Hannah Garland, and I am excited to join the McDavid-Jones Elementary family as a Kindergarten teacher. I have spent the last 5 years teaching Pre-K and I am thrilled to begin this new chapter in Kindergarten! Teaching is more than a job for me, it's a passion. I have a B.S in Child and Social Development from The University of Mobile and a B.S in Early Childhood Education. I believe every child can learn and succeed when they feel loved, supported, and encouraged. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, spoiling my nieces and nephews, and shopping at HomeGoods and Target with a Starbucks coffee in my hand. I can't wait to get to know my students and families and make this a wonderful year filled with learning, laughter, and growth! 🍎💕 This summer I will be changing my last name to Garland in the system. MJE would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Legacy Farms for their generous donation of plants to enhance our campus. We are grateful for community partnerships that support our school!

This week, May 2nd–6th, Mrs. Boltz’s class proudly celebrated Warburg Micro Syndrome Awareness Week by wearing neon yellow to help raise awareness and support for our amazing student, Viktor! 💛
Warburg Micro Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that can affect a child’s vision, development, muscle tone, and learning abilities. Children with this syndrome often face many challenges, but they also show incredible strength, perseverance, and resilience every single day.
We are so proud of Viktor and all the progress he continues to make in our classroom. He works hard, brings joy to those around him, and reminds us daily that every child can learn, grow, and succeed in their own unique way.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in wearing neon yellow and helping spread awareness, inclusion, and kindness throughout our school community! #WarburgMicroSyndromeAwareness #InclusionMatters #MDJProud #CelebrateDifferences 💛

Mrs. Helton's Pre-K class made an art project for our fabulous music teacher, Mr. Medina. We would like to display their hard work. Each music note is a different student's hand print and they wrote each note to the tune of "Ode to Joy" from Beethoven's 9th Symphony. Their project touched Mr. Medina's heart and brought the biggest smile to his face.

Last week our 1st graders shared how they are building fluency one poem at a time.  Each class had their time to shine by reciting poetry to a small audience. We are so proud of their hard work and we would like to thank their parents/guardians for practicing nightly with these students to ensure their success. #allin10 #LearningLeading #PerseverancePropelsProgress #MJEchampions
