The honorees were surprised in their classrooms with news of the awards on Friday. Mobile County’s Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year will now be nominated for Alabama Teacher of the Year.

The Giving Tree, located in the lobby of the MCPSS Academic Affairs building, was established in 2011 to honor teachers and administrators who win statewide or national awards.

Stuff the Bus
MCPSS donates over 3,500 toys in Stuff the Bus toy drive

Donations were delivered to WKRG's Magical Christmas Toy Drive, where they'll be distributed by the Salvation Army to needy families along the Gulf Coast.

B.C. Rain unveils state's first student-built airplane

About 75 students built the plane over a two-year period with guidance from mentors from Airbus and VT Mobile Aerospace Engineering. Three of the students who helped build the plane got to fly in it on Friday.
