DUTIES

The duties include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for producing theatrical productions or plays according to a schedule to be determined by the principal.
  • Works in conjunction with Fine Arts teachers at the school.
  • Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences.
  • Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Exhibits positive human relations skills.
  • Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress.
  • Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Maintains and submits records and reports.
  • Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS Must have a Valid Alabama Teaching Certificate in Language Arts or in Theatre,

OR

Eligible for an Alternative Certificate in Theatre with a college major in Theatre, and an overall GPA of 2.75 or higher on the Bachelor’s degree. Applicant must take and pass the Praxis II in Theatre and the ACETP Basic Skills Exams within the first year of employment. All exam expenses are borne by the applicant. Once hired the teacher must complete four designated college courses in Education within a two year time period from employment.

Experience in producing, directing, or acting in live stage plays is preferred.

SALARY RANGE As per State Salary Matrix, depending on degree and experience. Bachelor’s beginning pay – $38,342.00.
