TITLE CENTRAL OFFICE ACCOUNTING CLERK

DUTIES

The duties include but are not limited to:  

  • Performs general accounts payable functions and routine office procedures including but not limited to opening mail, alphabetizing, filing, and data entry of invoices.
  • Performs written and telephone contact with vendors, schools, and departments and works an aging report on a monthly basis.
  • Audits purchase orders and invoices along with daily data entries.
  • Assumes other reasonable and equitable position-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  • Be familiar with GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Procedures).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Uses Excel, Word, and Access; 10-key skills required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • OVERTIME MAY BE REQUIRED.

QUALIFICATIONS Must be a high school graduate or have a GED equivalent. Must have experience in accounting and bookkeeping practices or accounting degree preferred. Must have knowledge desirable of double entry accounting and bookkeeping procedures. Must demonstrate the ability to work with minimum supervision and to follow instructions. Must have computer knowledge. Must have knowledge of computer programs i.e. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word or equivalent word processing and accounting software. Must have the ability to multi-task within the office and assists with additional duties should the need arise. Must have the ability to communicate clearly with the public and employees. Ability to have attention to detail skills, work independently, and accept interruptions without frustration. Must have the ability to work well with others, to be confidential, and to organize and maintain accurate records. Must have knowledge of how to operate standard office equipment including a ten-key calculator. Must have the ability to perform daily work involving written or numerical data and to make arithmetic calculations. GIVEN THE SPECIALIZED TRAINING AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION, NO REQUESTS FOR TRANSFER WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR A PERIOD OF TWO YEARS.
SALARY RANGE $33,324.00 - $49,813.00 annually
