A 'Battle of the Bands' for Local Schools & Music Programs

Area Middle and High School Students Are Encouraged To Showcase Their Musicianship

(Gulf Shores, Ala) - The Hangout Music Festival has joined The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus to offer one talented local school band the ultimate music experience - a chance to record on the John Lennon Education Tour Bus and to perform at the 2011 Hangout Music Festival! The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Battle of the Bands, presented by the Hangout Music Festival, Mobile Press Register and Independent Weekly, will also award special prizes to the winning band's school.  

If you, or someone you know, are in a band and currently enrolled in the 7th-12th grade in Baldwin County, Mobile County or Escambia County schools, you are eligible to participate by submitting your video through YouTube.

The 2nd annual Hangout Music Festival will take place May 20-22 in Gulf Shores, AL.  The winner of the ‘John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Battle of the Bands' will play at the same event as the Foo Fighters, Widespread Panic and Paul Simon!  The ‘John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Battle of the Bands' will bring the mission of the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus to the greater Mobile area by encouraging music education and creativity to bring together students from all backgrounds and musical influences.

‘John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Battle of the Bands' will choose five (5) finalists to perform live in front of a panel of judges on May 1st at The Hangout restaurant in Gulf Shores, AL.  Vote for your favorite band starting April 21st, 2011.  One popular favorite and 4 bands picked by music executives will be chosen to play at the final.  One band will be awarded the grand prize which includes: A professional recording session on board the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, a slot on the 2011 Hangout Music Festival lineup, a free entry to the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and prizes from Avid, Epiphone, Audio-Technica, and Mackie.  Plus, the winning band will be awarded prizes for their school.

 

To Enter:

1) Upload a video your band's songs on the official Hangout Music Festival SchoolTube Page no later than April 21st 2011

2) Submit an official entry form at www.hangoutmusicfest.com/supportmusicinschools

3) Be currently enrolled in the 7th- 12th grade

About the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is a non-profit 501(c)(3) state-of-the-art mobile audio and HD video recording and production facility. In its fourteenth year, with the very newest technology and gear, the Bus continues to be dedicated to providing young people with tours of the studios and participation in free songwriting and multimedia production workshops. With the assistance of three on-board engineers, students learn how to write, perform, record, and produce original songs, produce and shoot music videos and documentaries and complete a broadcast quality music video - all in one day!

 

The Lennon Bus is committed to providing students with increased access to music, audio, video, and broadcast technologies.
