Collier Elementary reaches out to assist fellow school

Posted by Comm. Dept. in General  |  Comments (5)

Collier Elementary's Gifted Specialist Laniese Howard, recently sent out a plea for help to the school's faculty and staff asking them to donate teaching supplies for the teachers at tornado ravaged Murphy High School.  It wasn’t long before the materials started coming in.

“Collier is like a big family,” said Howard, “it is not uncommon for us to leap into action when others need our help. Some of our teachers graduated from Murphy or have children that go there.  We knew there was a great need and it was our goal to help as much as we possibly could.”

In all, Collier faculty and staff collected 10 large boxes of supplies for the Murphy faculty,  everything from copy paper to cleaning supplies.  “As a community, we have to lean on each other from time to time,” said Howard. “We hope the Murphy faculty will be able to put the supplies to good use and it will make their jobs a little easier.”
