The deadline for submitting writing to the 2013 Young Authors’ Anthology is January 31. There are two sections of the anthology. One section is for students in grades 2-5 and the other section is for students in middle and high school. All writing submitted must be appropriate for students of all ages. You can see the writing from last year, as well as work that has already been submitted on our wiki: www.metromobilereadingcouncil.wikispaces.com
We will have two programs on March 2, 2013 at the West Regional Branch Library on Grelot Road. Our guest author is Karen Lynn Williams, who has written many books about children from different cultures including, Galimoto (a Reading Rainbow Selection), A Beach Tail, Painted Dreams, My Name is Sangoel, and Beatrice’s Dream.
Our morning session for students in grades 2-5 includes a presentation by Ms. Williams, writing activities with local educators and writers, a Parent/Teacher session with Ms. Williams, and other activities. The afternoon session, is a Round Table Discussion with Ms. Williams for students in middle and high school. Teachers who attend can receive CEU's through SARIC.
Students may also submit writing for our 2013 Young Authors’ Anthology. Students who register for this event will receive a copy of the anthology, however, registration is not required. Any student is welcome to attend either program.
