Dawes Intermediate Walks for a Great Cause

Posted by Comm. Dept. in Schools  |  Comments (3)

Dawes Intermediate School recently participated in the American Diabetes Association Walk on Saturday, October 13, 2012 in downtown Mobile.  The Student Council at Dawes Intermediate challenged the student body to raise money for ADA and to walk in the event.  Dawes Intermediate had over 50 students and parents that participated in the walk.

Dawes students walked in honor of one of their fellow students, Alex Spellmeyer and other students at Dawes that have diabetes.  Dawes Intermediate was one of seven teams to raise more than $1,000 dollars for the event.  Dawes students exceeded their goal of $2,000 and raise $2,014.78 for ADA.  There were approximately 550 walkers and volunteers at the event, including Dawes Intermediate’s students, families, and friends.
