Congratulations to Murphy High School International Baccalaureate-IB student-Rodah Wangondu for being named a Finalist in the Alabama Science Scholar Search and Gorgas Scholarship Competition for 2011! He is one of ten students in the State of Alabama (and the only student in the Mobile & Baldwin County School Systems) who has been named a Finalist. This is a significant achievement based on excellence in academics and completion of an individual work of scientific research and scholarship.
The final judging will be carried out during the annual meeting of the Alabama Academy of Science at Jacksonville State University, in Jacksonville, Alabama, March 3-4, 2011. The Competition begins with the Joint Banquet on Thursday Evening, March 3rd with the recognition of finalists. The final judging and announcement of winners will be on Friday, March 4th, 2011.
Finalists are invited to submit an abstract of their work to be published in the Journal of the Alabama Academy of Science.
Based on the preliminary scores and final judging, awards will be made with the top award of $4000.00 that may be applied to college study at ANY accredited college or university. Additional scholarships are also offered to winners and/or finalists by baccalaureate (4-year) institutions in Alabama.
