Students, parents and the Semmes community witnessed history come alive at Semmes Elementary School! Students in the third, fourth, and fifth grade classes held the 1st Annual Living History Museum. In honor of Black History month, students chose a character in history, then researched and wrote an essay about the person. The students wore costumes to reenact the character by stating facts as the audience poured in the gym-turned museum-to view the historic figures. The students held the lower grade audiences captive with interesting information as statues of inventors, scientists, presidents, astronauts and many more came to life.

As principal of Semmes Elementary, I am so proud of the participants of the Living History Museum. Each student did an outstanding job in researching and then portraying their everyday hero in history. You guys are awesome!
