Davidson High School brings home a first place award from the first ever BEST National Championship in Dallas. BEST stands for Boosting Engineering Science and Technology The journey began in November when the school's team RobotEx finished in the top 3 in these major categories: 2nd place Overall Scoring, 3rd place Robot, First Place Exhibit Booth, 3rd Place Engineering Notebook, First Place SolidWorks software and First Place Website. The team then took its skills and robot to the regional competition in Auburn in December where RobotEx came in second and earned a trip to the National Championship.
The competition was tough. Only 12 teams advanced past their local and regional competitions. RobotEx took first place in the Technical Notebook category. Teacher Mike Fletcher says the trip was great. "It was certainly an elite group and we were happy to be there. It gave us a new motivation to improve".
Fortunately we had some really good sponsors. Aztec Maritime, Technip, Prichard Housing Authority, Offshore Inland Marine and Lenzing Fibers are all companies that contributed to our program this year.
Congratulations to Mr. Fletcher, his students and RobotEx.
