The Mobile Opera is coming to Mobile County Public Schools!
Yes, Pigaro, the French Chef and his diner friends, Pearl and Paul, are coming to our schools and singing their way to help our elementary students make better food choices. Funded by MCPSS CNP, The Mobile Opera has an original production entitled, "Pigaro's Diner" that is written and directed by Scott Wright. Pigaro's Diner, a K-5 program addressing the problem of childhood obesity, is set to premiere in Mobile County Public Schools April 26 - May 14, 2010. The 40-minute, magical combination of music and puppetry engages students while instructing them about nutrition and healthy eating habits. Students will meet Pigaro, Pearl and Paul at the Diner and experience a live performance that is playful, interactive and memorable! The performance is supported with classroom instruction and a take home supplemental packet for students to share with caregivers and siblings. This packet will provide fun service learning opportunities as well as activities that complement the curriculum for both health education and arts education. The schools that are not scheduled for this time frame will have the opportunity to schedule a performance at their school this upcoming school year. It should be exciting for our elementary students to have the opportunity of going to the opera!

Thank you ! Thank you for a delightful performance. The children and the adults in the audience at Collier Elementary thoroughly enjoyed learning about making good food choices from Pigaro and company. Congratulations to the Mobile Opera and to Scott Wright for a job well done.
