Dauphin Island Visits with Retired FBI Agent

Posted by Comm. Dept. in Parent and Student Information  |  Comments (4)

Retired FBI Agent Neil Shanahan Sr. visited the students in Mrs. Camille McGuire's second grade class, on the birthday celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.  The students sang a love song, with sign language and a geography song written by Camille McGuire and Dione Roberts.  They also counted in several languages. Then Mr. Shanahan, who is grandfather of students, Neil and Mickey Shanahan, talked with the students about Martin Luther King Jr.  He was one of the FBI Agents assigned to investigate the death of Martin Luther King Jr. The students were in awe!

It was wonderful to see the story on Mrs. McGuire's class. My godson was in her class seven years ago. Ms McGuire is awesome! Brandon is in IB classes now at Murphy High and still talks about things he learned in her class. She truly is a teacher who makes learning fun, which helps students remember many years later. Thanks Mrs Mc Guire you are an asset to MCPSS!!!!!

Way to go Camille! This is an example of real-world teaching that engages students in learning! You also incorporate the family resourses in the community.
