Last school year, the third graders at Hamilton Elementary School started working on the Laura Foster Courtyard at Hamilton School as class projects. This year since promoting to the fourth grade the students decided to continue building and planting in the area. The results have been more flowers, trimming, grooming and beautifying of the school's front yard. The students put down mulch and pine straw, raked and picked up litter dropped in the area. The fourth grade boys built fence panels, and assisted in pouring sixteen concrete steps. While the fourth grade girls did most of the planting and painting of the concrete steps. The Chickasaw Garden Club was notified and asked to include the school's Courtyard on its monthly inspections of the decorated yards in the City of Chickasaw. Upon inspection, the group was amazed to see how excellent the school Courtyard looked and were impressed with the development the 4th graders accomplishment with practically no expense. The Chickasaw Garden Club promptly awarded the Hamilton School Courtyard - November's Yard of the month.

I see I left my school in good hands! Eight years ago I left for middle school. I hated to leave my garden. You have not only taken care of the garden, you have built much more. You are to be commended. Happy Growing! Della White
