MCPSS Special Olympics team victorious at state games

Congratulations to the thirty eight athletes representing 12 different schools in the Mobile County Public Schools.  On Friday, May 16th, Team Mobile County hit the trail for the Special Olympic State Games in Troy, Alabama where athletes went for the Gold in the sports of Track & Field, Bocce, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Golf, Baseball, Equestrian, and Swimming.Opening Ceremonies were held Friday evening in Trojan Arena at Troy University and Competitions held through different venues...

Citronelle soccer team to perform in state playoffs

Gilliard archery earns top three spot in the state

The Gilliard Gator Archery team recently attended the Alabama State Tournament and placed 3rd out of 16 elementary schools at the state level. This is the second time in team history the Gator team has placed in the top three at the state tournament. Scoring a total of 3001 points, the students work as a team to move forward.  The top 12 scores out of the 24 team shooters are added to get the team score. Each team must have at least 4 girls or 4 boys in their top 12 to be eligible...

Gilliard hosts 6th Annual Archery Tournament

Gilliard Elementary played host to the 6th Annual Gilliard Gator Pride Archery Tournament. This huge tournament was a three day event held on December 12th, 13th and 14th at Gilliard Elementary School. There were local teams from Mobile and Baldwin counties as well as teams from Pascagoula, MS and Ft.Walton Beach, FL. The tournament had 27 teams in three divisions. Gilliard came in first out of thirteen elementary school teams with a total score of 3019. There were 268 shooters...

Causey Tigers win Class 3A Championship

The Causey Middle boys basketball team won the Class 3A County Championship on January 23 with a 36 to 26 victory over Calloway-Smith Middle.  Student Dejonte Thomas was named the championship game's most valuable player.  The Causey Tigers completed the season with a record of 10 and 3.  Congratulations to Coach Hamilton and the Tigers for their hard work!

Citronelle High School to hold a RED OUT game

Citronelle High School is seeing RED! The Citronelle High School chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) will host a Red Out football game on September 6th to benefit the American Heart Association (AHA). Bryant High School's archery team wins 2013 Alabama NASP title

     The Alma Bryant High School Hurricane Archery Team won the 2013 Alabama National Archery in the Schools (NASP) Tournament title, held this year for the first time in Montgomery, for the 7th consecutive year! Bryant’s team score was a 3442, which established a new record total for Alabama high schools. Gilliard's Archery team stands 5th in the State

    Congratulations to the Gilliard Gator Archery team. They traveled to the Sportplex in Montgomery on Thursday, April 4th where they shot a combined team total of 3058 points!!!This is the highest score in Gilliard team history.They came in fifth overall in the state and qualified for the National Tournament in Louisville,Ky.The team had two shooters who also qualified as individuals to shoot at Nationals:Hunter Whitmore came in 4th place...

Semmes athlete invited to U.S. Soccer Federation Training Center

She has received an invitation to attend the U.S. Soccer Federation Training Center in Atlanta for possible inclusion into the U.S. Soccer Youth National Team program.   Williamson's Baseball Team Wins the First Annual BayBears Charities Inner City Tournament   Congratulations to the Williamson High School Baseball team for winning the first annual BayBears Charities Inner City Tournament at Hank Aaron Stadium in March. Former Blount Coach inducted into the AL High School Sports Hall of Fame

  Coach Harris’ remarkable football coaching career is highlighted by the amazing turnaround he had at Blount High School. When he arrived at Blount in 1988, the Leopards’ football program had lost more games the previous 10 seasons than any other Class 5A school in the state. Alba Middle places in state championship

Congratulations to the Alba Middle School Scholars Bowl team! They competed at the ASCA Alabama State Championship on Saturday February 23. They were among 32 teams invited to attend the tournament. The team won 4 out of 7 matches, defeating Clanton by a score of 315-155; Cullman 410-210; Donoho 250-150; and Monrovia 360-230.
