Students Score Big at NASP Tournament

The Archery Program at Alma Bryant High School hosted the first of four regional archery tournaments on February 24th and 25th in the school gym.  Approximately 500 shooters in the elementary, middle, and high school divisions participated in this qualifying tournament for the National Archery in the Schools (NASP) State Tournament.  First place teams in each division automatically move on to the State NASP Tournament, which is a one-day event that hosts 1,100 participants and will take...

Satsuma Lady Gators Sweep Softball Tournament

The Satsuma High School Lady Gator Softball team went to Auburn on Friday, March 5, with a mission to bring a championship home to Satsuma. Their mission was completed Saturday night at 11:00 pm when The Lady Gators defeated Hueytown 1-0 in the championship game of the Auburn Invitational Tournament. In their path to the championship game the Lady Gators defeated five other teams:   Hoover 10-1, Montgomery Catholic 5-1, ACA 4-0, St. James 11-0 and Holtville 10-5. McDavid-Jones Students Learn "The Shocking Truth"

Fourth grade students from McDavid-Jones Elementary School enjoyed a presentation from Alabama Power Company entitled "The ShockingTruth". Alabama Power employee, Mr. Joe Giles taught the students how to be safe around electricity. Thanks to the many community helpers willing to help McDavid-Jones students learn valuable life lessons.

Alma Bryant Scholars' Team Wins County Bowl

      Alma Bryant High School's Scholars' Bowl Varsity and Junior Varsity teams concluded their county regular season of competition by defeating Mary G. Montgomery.  Both teams had a perfect 13-0 for the year.  Stephanie Patrick was the individual county champion with 1685 points.  Both Lee Hedgepeth and Phillip Patrick were Junior Varsity All-Stars.     The season was capped by an All-Star match featuring the eight highest individual...
