Second Chance Alternative Program
The Second Chance Alternative Program is designed to serve students who are unsuccessful in maintaining appropriate behavior and for whom disciplinary actions have been exhausted in their assigned school. The program is designed for students currently on long-term suspension (11 days to the end of the semester). The controlled environment and attention required for such disruptive students require an alternative setting for behavioral improvement.
The goals for students enrolled in the program are as follows:
1. To increase self-control, self-discipline, responsibility, and awareness;
2. To improve conflict resolution skills;
3. To improve academic performance; and
4. To improve self-esteem

Student Handbook and Code of Conduct
A committee that includes principal representation revises the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct annually. Once approved by the Board, the Code becomes policy for our system. Principals receive copies for distribution to all students and staff. The Code instructs principals to assign teachers the responsibility of reviewing the code in classes during the first two weeks of school. Copies of the Students Handbook and Code of Conduct are usually delivered in August to each school for distribution to students. It is required that parents sign the form in the Code acknowledging receipt of the Code and return this form to the school!
